Marcie Snyder was 51 when her life abruptly ended in her home at 1140 Oak Drive in Colona, Illinois. A call came in to police at her residence regarding a domestic disturbance. When police arrived, they found Marcie deceased. Her boyfriend Steven L Scott, 56 who also lived in the residence, there at the time was arrested at the scene.
ARREST According to reports the State Attorney’s Office alleges that Scott had a verbal altercation with her which turned in to a physical one. Scott grabbed a knife, cut across her throat, created three more injuries to Marcie’s body and stood over her watching her take her last breaths.
It seems as though Scott was having financial issues according to court records, including a bankruptcy filing August 2019, and writing bad checks in the past on a felony level. Scott moved in according to records in 2013.
COURT CASE# 2019CF410
Scott was charged on two counts of murder and faced trial at the Henry County Courthouse on 307 W Center Street in Cambridge, Illinois where on August 10, 2021 he was found guilty and sentenced (on a plea deal) to 35 years. Scott will have to serve one hundred percent of his sentence.
All six of Marcie's siblings spoke in the court on her behalf. We hope this will bring Marcie's family some peace, knowing their efforts and suffering through the court period has ensured that Scott will never hurt another.
Rest in peace Marcie.
