Jessica Sims was a New York daycare provider from her own home and has been charged with manslaughter in the death of a child she was caring for, 23 month old Lenox Santiago. Since then she was additionally charged with lying to police regarding the circumstances of his death. Later, she was charged with murder.
Sims called 911 on July 17, 2019 reporting that Lennox fell out of his chair, striking his head. Later, she confessed to swinging him in to a coffee table by his legs. Lennox died two days later from severe brain trauma. The indictment claims that Sims grabbed Lennox by the legs and swung him up in the air, then down hard, with the back of his head striking the coffee table. Sims is alleged to recklessly caused Lennox death. Manslaughter.
Sims faces a life sentence if convicted on the murder charge. The manslaughter charge is a max of twenty-five years.

Lennox Andrew Santiago, 1, died peacefully on July 19, 2019 after twenty three happy months. He had an infectious smile and radiated love to everyone he met. Predeceased by a grandmother, Deborah Martin. Survived by his loving Mother, Adrianna Martin, his Grandfather, Kenneth Martin, Uncle, Joshua (Cheyenne) Martin, Eric (Christy) Martin, a Cousin, Karris Martin and his Godmother, Cherish Brodbeck.
