Johnny Adams, 14, Augusta, West Virginia

Missing July 12, 2020

Johnny was visiting family in the area when he vanished. He’d been in the area since March 2020 due to the COVID19 pandemic which isolated most people to their homes. He was just graduating from West Hartford from King Philip Middle School.

Johnny was reported missing July 12, 2020 about 9:30 A.M. He had no cell phone or other device where he could be tracked. The family put up a $10,000 reward for information directly leading them to Johnny’s whereabouts.

A massive search began, lasting for days, with agencies across a hundred acres in the area, led by the Hampshire County Sheriff’s Office. This included businesses, churches and the FBI Child Abduction Rapid Deployment Team. The search ended on July 21, 2020 when human remains were found in a shallow grave.. The shallow grave was located in a heavily wooded area, not far from where he was reported missing and was later confirmed to be Johnny.

Johnny’s death has been ruled a homicide.

An unnamed suspect is being investigated. A sixteen year old family member of Johnny’s was arrested and charged with burglary. It is unknown if there is any connection to Johnny’s disappearance.

Johnny's father reported that it may be a family member who took Johnny's life.
