John Kurtis, 57, of Woodridge was last seen on December 30, 2019. He was reported missing January 2, 2020 by friends.
John was found January 4, 2020 when Officers located a body at a vacant apartment building on the 400 block of 4th Avenue in Rock Falls, Whiteside County, Illinois.
The autopsy reports were pending and results have not yet been publicly reported. Law enforcement are not providing details on his disappearance or death.

OBITUARY
John M. Kurtis, 57, of Sterling, died January 4, 2020. John was born November 17, 1962 in Elmhurst the son of John K. and Arlene (Donaldson) Kurtis. He married Patricia Carson and enjoyed 31 years of marriage. John adored his family and especially his grandchildren. He was an accomplished guitar player, and enjoyed spending time with his best friend and companion "Tito" his dog. Survivors include one daughter Rebecca Kurtis of Wheaton; one son John (Lindsey) Kurtis Jr. of Plainfield; three grandchildren Elliana Grace Bingaman, Jacob Thomas Bingaman, and Aria Nicole Kurtis. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Patricia. Visitation will be Saturday January 18, 2020 from 2PM-4PM at Ahlgrim Funeral Home in Elmhurst, and memorial service starting at 4PM.
