On Wednesday, April 22, 2020, at approximately 10:35 a.m., Champaign Police were dispatched to the 2700 block of West Springfield Avenue for a report of an unresponsive body partially submerged in Kaufman Lake. Upon arrival, the body of a male was located approximately 15 feet from shore. Champaign Fire arrived and assisted police in the recovery and the individual was confirmed by emergency personnel to be deceased. The circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the cause of death. The victim’s name is being withheld pending coroner identification and notification of next of kin. Anyone who has further information, or witnessed the incident, is asked to please contact police at 217-351-4545. Arrangements may be made for information to be shared privately. INITIAL INFORMATION

Jeremy Wallace, 23 of Chicago was reported missing April 10, 2020 in Champaign, Illinois.


He was found late morning April 22, 2020 in Kaufman Lake in West Champaign, Illinois.

The autopsy is scheduled for April 23, 2020. His death is currently being investigated.
