Evelyn Boswell, 15-months-old, December 26, 2019, Blountville, Sullivan County, Tennessee

Updated: Mar 17, 2023

Fifteen-month-old Evelyn Boswell was last seen December 26, 2019, but wasn't reported by the family until February 18, 2020. The AMBER Alert was then issued. Her mother, Megan Boswell claimed that Evelyn's father, Ethan Perry had Evelyn, and that Megan had planned to pick Evelyn up. Ethan, however, was a military member stationed in Louisiana at the time, and did not have Evelyn.

Megan Boswell, her mother is the prime suspect in Evelyn's disappearance. It took seventeen days from the day law enforcement was notified of her disappearance, to the date Evelyn's remains were located. Soon thereafter, Evelyn's mother, the grandmother, Angela Boswell, and William McCloud were arrested. The grandmother and McCloud were charged with possession of stolen property February 20, 2020. They were found in a vehicle that law enforcement were searching for involving Evelyn's whereabouts, which was a gray BMW.

At least one search was completed at the mother's property in Blountville, Tennessee.

Family members have share conflicting statements and changing their stories, with every interview, regarding Evelyn's disappearance. One of the stories included the mother telling investigators that Evelyn accidentally suffocated while sharing a bed with Megan and a boyfriend. But Evelyn was too old to die that way.

On March 6, 2020, Evelyn's remains were located in her grandfather's backyard, which law enforcement believe is where she was buried alive, by her mother, after being suffocated with a blanket and aluminum foil, then shoved upside down, in a trash can. The grandfather is the one that contacted DCFS on February 18 stating that he had not laid eyes on Evelyn since Thanksgiving. Investigators believe a babysitter may have been the last person who saw Evelyn early December. The father asked for Investigators to search a storage shed on his property. In the playhouse, in the trash can, in a plastic garbage bag, with other bags piled around it is where Evelyn's remains were found. An Investigator at the scene observed a leg with a foot attached, on top of the trash.

Her mom, Megan Boswell was charged on August 19, 2020, with two counts of capital murder, aggravated child abuse and neglect, tampering with evidence, abuse of a corpse and making false reports. She has pleaded not guilty, and continues to be held without bail. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic shut down in the court system, this trial continues to be delayed, due to the backlog involved with the shut down. The jury trial is set for February 2025.
