Danny Diaz-Delgado was simply looking online to purchase a PlayStation 4 via Facebook Marketplace, unaware he would meet his fate.
Danny was tricked by Rufus Thompson pretending to sell a discounted PlayStation 4 with games. Upon meeting, they took Danny to an alley at gunpoint behind the 300 block of South Cook Street in Trenton. They forced him to get into a garage, robbed him of the $240 and took his ATM card. They traveled to a Chase Bank where they withdrew $700.
Police located Danny bound and riddled with bullets along the banks of the murky Assunpink Creek in Hamilton Township. Danny's hands were bound behind his back with a cut electric cord and pink duct tape. He had been shot nine times in the front, and the back.
Suspects
Rufus Thompson of Trenton, 29
Akmal Alvaranga, 29
Thanks to Detectives, they used Danny's Facebook records and video surveillance to identify the suspects. They collected evidence with a warrant to their residence, which led back to Danny's abduction and murder.
Both Thompson and Alvaranga were charged with the kidnapping, armed robbery and murder in Danny's disappearance and death. Thompson plead guilty and was convicted and sentenced to 45 years in prison. Alvaranga was also found guilty and convicted.
Danny was simply looking for the PlayStation 4 as a gift to his younger brother.
